Family routines keep your household organized and running smoothly. It’s important to have routines that are flexible yet consistent and predictable. Try the following tips to ensure a more successful day for you and your children.
Morning:
- Put as many things in order the night before
- Keep wake- up routines positive
- Make sure your child eats breakfast
- Have a goodbye routine that includes a hug, kiss, or wave
After School:
- Young children and middle school aged children need adult supervision. Children should come home to a responsible adult or adolescent.
Evenings:
- Dinner should be an important time for your family. As often as possible, all family members should eat together at the dinner table with no distractions from TV or phones. Here, everyone is able to share a little bit about their day and have enjoyable conversations.
Bedtime:
- Children should have a standard bedtime
- Try night time rituals like brush, book, bed. These rituals can help ease a child to sleep
Weekends:
- Weekends are a great time for family togetherness. Some activities can include grocery shopping, chores, playground, and other family outings.
